Tucked away in the Eagle Albertson’s plaza next to Idaho Banking is The Stuffed Olive at 404 S. Eagle Road. Candlelight, fresh flowers, and lemon and orange Fiesta dinnerware sit atop linen-lined tables in this cozy eatery. Aside from the year round white Christmas lights in the landscaping in front of the restaurant there really is nothing that calls attention to this hidden gem. The atmosphere is quiet, the food is exceptional, and the menu is small and selective.
There are some terrific salad choices such as Citrus Spinach and Chicken Salad with Apple Slaw. Dinner items range from a multitude of pasta dishes to peppered steak and breaded eggplant. We started with an appetizer of Calamari ($9.00); artfully presented with freshly chopped parsley, shredded cheese, lemons, and red pepper aioli. Delicious, complimentary servings of sliced bread and olive oil were brought to our table not once but twice. The Chicken Stuffado ($12.95) was doused in creamy garlic sauce with roasted garlic cloves and thin slices of prosciutto and accompanied with silky angel hair in a light cheese sauce. Both the pasta and chicken were mouth watering. The Surf and Turf ($15.95) combination of slow roasted tri tip and shrimp scampi with garlic and red peppers were equally as impressive, too! All entrees are served with a signature green olive and sprig of fresh sage.
The Stuffed Olive also serves wine and beer. Our waitress mentioned at least eight different kinds of red wine by the glass. While the glass of red was good, the price of $6.75 was steep considering the tiny portion in the glass. Be sure to look over the desserts in the deli case for their current enticing offerings.
Hours are Monday through Saturday, 11 am to 9 pm. The Stuffed Olive also caters.
