Where else can you find not one but two affordable Mediterranean restaurants in the Treasure Valley?! Mazzah has two Boise locations, one on the 17th block of West State Street, the other on Park Center Blvd near Springhill Suites. While the menu is by no means vast it does cover basic choices of Greek and Lebanese cuisine with a range of appetizers including baba ghanooj, hummus, falafel, and tabbouli. This is the place to go for authentic Greek salad or a made to order lamb kabob.

Salads, sandwiches and platters are all favorably priced. Using a coupon from a local phone book “buy one platter, get a second half off” allowed us to have a very large lunch for two including beverages and dessert for just over $20. Platters are priced from $7.49 to $12.99 and include basmati rice and a choice of two small sides from the appetizer menu. We ordered two of the most frequently ordered platters, a Gyro and a Kabob Sampler. The gyro sandwich ($9.99) was dressed with Tzatziki and feta and tomatoes in a serving basket. A second large paper plate held rice topped thin slices of grilled meat and a side of creamy hummus and dolma. Hummus is a spread made with mostly pureed chick peas or garbanzo beans. The hummus was creamy but could have benefitted with from the addition of fresh lemon juice. The Dolma (stuffed grape leaves) were tangy and good! The Kabob Sampler contained one beef, one shish (ground lamb & beef) and one chicken kabob, all nicely flavored and grilled. Sides of tabbouli salad and hummus accompanied it. Our favorite selections were the tabbouli and the dolma!

Mazzah serves three types of baklava desserts; original baklava, chocolate almond roll or pecan tartlet baklava. We shared a triangular piece of baklava. Very good and not overly sweet and sticky like most baklava, only $2.29.

There is a happy hour special Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 pm of $1 off any platter or combo. Employees of several companies such as St. Al’s, Micron and Supervalu get 10% off at the Park Center location. Refer to the sign near the cash register that lists the area businesses that receive a discount at Mazzah.
