Chandlers Steakhouse first arrived in Boise in May 2007 when restaurateur Rex Chandler and long-time chef Keith Otter decided to introduce their Sun Valley-based steakhouse by the same name to the Treasure Valley. Located within the newly revamped Hotel 43 at 981 Grove Street downtown, Chandlers sexy setting offers up a perfect locale for a romantic dinner out or a swanky place to meet friends for a famous 10-minute martini after work. And with live Jazz seven nights a week, you almost cant go wrong.
While their menu is by no means expansive, they do offer a nice selection of prime meats (as one would expect) with everything from the Porterhouse for Two, a generous New York, Kobe Beef and Argentine Style two ways. The seafood selection is less impressive but includes their famed Tower of Tuna appetizer and a variety of fresh fish. Do keep in mind, however, the ala carte nature of their steak and seafood specialties and order accordingly.
If one perceives the dinner menu lacking, it is surely made up for by the wine list. With twenty-five wines available by the glass and with varietals at almost every price point from half bottles, sparkling to ports and a nice selection of everything in between, Chandlers just may boast Boises best wine list.
On one final note, Chandlers scored points with me by paying attention to a detail that far too many high-end restaurants (most restaurants for that matter) ignore: their drinking water. Boises tap water is notoriously foul tasting--it was refreshing drinking a glass of water that didnt taste like it came out of a swimming pool. Kudos to Chandlers for making the effort to filter your water!
