... I ate there with my Middle Eastern wife awhile back. When we asked if the meat was halal, the hostess didnt know, but called the owner. When he learned that my wife eats only halal (islamically prepared/ similar to Kosher) he offered to comp us dinner. How nice is that. We inisited to pay and it was well worth it. Just a note, one reason that middle eastern food doesnt always taste the same in the West, is that meat is raised and slaughtered differently there. It is usually always grain feed(more natural) not corn as here is often the case. Also Islamically the animal simply has its throat cut and is bled out, which again is the more natrual and better hygenically. Also the type and viscosity of the cooking oil is usually different. Hope this helps. |

... Just had dinner and dessert at the Ali Baba ... have to say that it was very good, and I'll certainly return! Not only was the food flavorful, and traditional, the staff were welcoming and knowledgable, and the atmosphere was like being at home. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to my friends and family. I'll be back for more ... save me a corner table!! |

... This restaurant was good when it was the Aladdin but when it first changed to the Ali Baba iI ate there once and never again. Now it is back to the chef from the old Aladdin and a new owner. Give it a try I think you will be impressed. Their Kebabs were spot on as far as I am concerned and I know my kebabs:-) |

TASTY FOOD & COSY ENVIRONMENT It wasn't difficult to find the restaurant. The food is deliciously prepared. We had the Beef Shawarma Pita, Shish Taouk and Beef Shawarma, simply yummy! For dessert, we've been recommended to have the Baklava which is sooo delicious. Not too sweet not too blend.. its just wonderful. The lady who works there is also very accomodative and friendly. It have not been my first visit there. |

Don't Dumb It Down! Having lived and traveled in the Middle East (including Iraq), I have a pretty good idea of what the menu items at Ali Baba's should taste like -- and they miss the mark. It may be that the owners are pulling their punches out of a concern that the average Boisean's palate just isn't ready for a full-force taste of the Old Country. If so, they're making a big mistake -- and one that the previous owners of Mazzah made a number of years ago. Guys, give it to us like it your mama would. We can handle it. Your culinary culture has some great flavors, and you're selling it short. |
