Pocatello isn't exactly known for its restaurants. This one, I believe, is on its way to becoming one of Pocatello's best. It's amazing to walk into a gas station into a very nice-looking restaurant, and bigger than you would expect. It wasn't too loud. Atmosphere was casual yet intimate. We had a bottle of Dry Creek Zinfandel, which was quite good: not too fruity or dry, smooth, and very pleasant. We had the Cheese Melange appetizer which was wonderful and our kids ate it as well. My husband had the Tri-tip Fettuccine Gorgonzola, which was excellent, but his steak was more well done than the medium he asked for. It was however, still excellent. I ordered the Ribeye Steak (with balsamic caramelized onions), but I think I actually got prime rib, as I overheard that they were out of the rib eye. Again, it was more well done than medium, but so very tasty. The garlic mashed potatoes were delicious and not over-seasoned, but they were a little cold. Veggies were good. We had our two children with us, ages 4 and 2. They ordered off the kids menu: spaghetti and mac 'n cheese. The portions for the kids were huge. I would suggest you ask for a smaller dish to serve your little kids on as the dish the spaghetti came in was very large. The spaghetti was good. The mac 'n cheese was wonderful. The pasta was penne with a cheese mushroom sauce, and it was pretty amazing. I would suggest that Cafe Tuscanp offer a grown-up version of this dish or offer it as a side because I could have eaten all of it myself. Overall we were very pleased with our experience and will return. I have no need to frequent Sandpiper after eating here. Prices were comparable, the food was as good if not better, and ironically, the atmosphere was better, and quieter than Sandpiper. Our server was attentive and did very well in spite of it being his first day. Thank ou very much. We will be back!

First, if you have never tried their crawfish bisque, then you need to stop in immediately. Their other soups are good, too, as are their salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta and dessert; but the bisque is outstanding. Second, the ingredients are always fresh and the recipes inventive. Third, once you step inside, you would never know the restaurant shared space with the Shell station: it is classy but casual, with friendly, professional servers. Fourth, the cocktails and the happy hour prices are fantastic. Finally, a lot of the dishes favor richness over strong seasoning, so, unless you are going for the salad, make sure to bring your appetite.
