best Mediterranean food ever!
I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. First time, I was passing Boise and stopped by Cazba for a two hours and had a wonderful service and food. The second and third time I went to Boise just for having lunch and dinner at Cazba. The food's quality is perfect and the price of foods is very reasonable. I definitely recommendat having their Turkish coffee which is the best coffee you have ever had. Guaranteed!

Worst Dining Experience in Boise.
The food was mediocre at best. I've been to many better Mediterranean Restaurants. The food has no flavor. Waiter was OK but Hostess and Owner had to be the biggest joke in the Service Industry. I am 65 years young and that apparently requires a person to have ID before you can order a drink. Owner tried to justify his position by claiming it was some sort of STATE LAW, but agreed to serve me anyway. Wish he hadn't because I then watched him and his waiters serve at least 5 or 6 people (no ID). When I questioned his double standard, he still didn't acknowledge the mistake. I travel for a living, I'm a professional and that happen to be the first and only drink of my evening. BAD FOR BOISE!!!! smilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gif

Horrible- a waste of hard earned money
In this economy, eating out should be something specieal. The restraunt was empty on a friday evening and now I know why. Our appetizer was burnt. They actually brought over fried, burnt food to our table. The Gyro platter for $14 had three little strips of meat, some bagged lettuce and watery sauce on the side. I was shocked when the bill came to $60 for two and I left hungry and very disappointed.

Amazing food, even better service...
My wife and I love this place. We like to stop in before the dinner rush so we can visit with the staff. Super friendly and fun to talk with. We've even gotten to where we just tell them to "give us something good" and let them surprise us with our dinner and drinks...never been disappointed!

I read the other reviews, and I'm convinced that Thomas was thinking of a different restaurant when he typed out his opinion.

You will not be disappointed if you go!

Best lunch around!
I DETEST Greek and Mediterranean flavors...and yet, one of my FAVORITE meals in Boise is from this restaurant! You MUST try the curry chicken w/almonds (ask for extra almonds!) and get the side of rice with it because although they offer a side of veggies, it ALREADY comes w/veggies so get the rice too! smilies/grin.gif The lunch offers plenty of leftovers for another meal and it heats up well. YUMMERS!!

Don't waste your time or money...
My husband and I searched for Greek/Med dining in Boise and ended up choosing Cazba because it was in walking distance and had mostly good reviews. We were sadly dissapointed. The service was OK, food very generic and atmosphere bright and cold. I am sure when the place was established it was a hot spot, but now the dishes are chipped, owners are comfortable, and overall experience lacking. We should have known by the lack on patronage on a Saturday night, but took our chances. I would NOT suggest this place to anyone looking for a romantic night on the town with good food.

Absolute Value and Wonderful Experience
Oh my goodness.....we went to Cazba for dinner tonight in downtown Boise, and it was phenomenal. Even better, we got restaurant.com coupons to make it even more affordable. Amazing food, great service, and the company of my family [kids allowed, with even a kids menu]. A perfect evening. If you have not been to Cazba you should go.

My hubby, not so hungry, ordered the Calamari for his entree and loved it. I asked the owner for his first recommend and he suggested: "Moussaka" [- Greece- a greek lasagna, made with thinly sliced eggplant, layered with ground lamb, bechamel sauce and a mixture of cheese. topped with cazba's special tomato basil and creamy bechamel sauce.] Boy am I glad I listened to the chef. Amazingly decadent compared to any lasagna from Olive Garden, I would have never picked this if left to pick on my own, but am so glad I ordered it. Portions were great, and the prices not nearly as much as they could be considering the quality, quantity, and overall delicious experience. An absolute Boise MUST GO.

WOW! I and my wife went there last night. The food can only described as TERRIFIC! Although the taste of Spanikopita was fantastic, my Moussaka was, I think, the best! The food was excellent! We will definitely have to try this restaurant again! The cost was a little higher than many places but I really feel it was well worth it!

The food is awesome and the service is spectacular. I highly recommend it. As for the price it is more because it isn't mediocre like most of the restaurants in Boise. Expect to pay 25-35 for two and no alcohol.

The Cazba
The Cazba Restaurant has been a Downtown Boise institution for almost two decades and serves the best Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food west of the Mississippi.

My friend Leslie and I decided to go to Cazba because it had been a long time since any of us had been there for dinner, and it was a welcome respite after a long day of work, and in Leslie's case, jury duty.

Leslie and I arrived at Cazba a little bit after 5pm on a Friday night to avoid the date-night crowds and enjoy ourselves. Our waitress, Tila, seated us near the bar and gave us some time to decide what to eat.

Leslie and I started with a beer for me and wine for her and a calamari appetizer from Greece. The platter came with deep-fried calamari, babaganoush, a teryaki-ginger dipping sauce, and pita triangles. The calamari was tender and didn't feel like rubber when chewed, and the sauce made a great accompaniment.

For the main course, I had the Kota Pita, which is like spanikopita but with chicken, spinach, and feta cheese on phyllo dough, with Cazba's special sauce. Leslie had the dolomade, stuffed grape leaves. Our plates were huge, with salad and rice pilaf on mine and salad and vegetables in tomato sauce for Leslie. Everything was wonderful. Leslie's Dolomade had a light allspice flavor, from what I could taste from the tiny bite I took, and my Kota Pita was the next best thing to heaven.

Slightly stuffed, Leslie and I couldn't pass up dessert. The sweets were calling our names. I had to have some baklava, the national Greek pastry, while Leslie settled for chocolate mousse. Our desserts were like a work of art, garnished with whipped cream, and cinnamon graced my baklava, which wasn't sickly sweet like some of the baklavas I have gotten from the delis of some supermarkets. One of the co-owners came to our table to see how we enjoyed our meal, and we declared it delicious. I said to Leslie as we were leaving that we needed crowbars to get out of our seats, being so stuffed!

The Cazba is a bit pricier than a lot of restaurants in the Boise area, but it is worth it. It is located in downtown Boise near the State House and is open seven days a week. You can't miss the ancient Greek columns at the entrance, and the decor extends into the restaurant. For those who like nightclubbing, you can go to Club Opa next door, which is owned by the same people who own Cazba.
