Happy New Year......
This was our second time attending the New Year's Eve party at the Coq Rouge. The greeting was very nice and we were promptly seated. The first disappointment was that we had exactly the same seats than the previous year, which was too close to the door in a cold draft. The food was fine but not great, especially when you consider the price paid, $125 per person before tax(wine not included). The dinner consisted of a smoked salmon canapé, cream of asparagus, seafood salad, beef Wellington, and lemon sorbet in a martini glass. The sauce of the beef Wellington was very salty and we were disappointed when we were told that the sorbet that we thought was a "palate cleanser" was in fact dessert. As far as the ambiance is concerned, everyone was nice but you could not help but notice the attention given to the large table of regulars (like previous year) to the point of feeling neglected. The main musical act was less than average; however we enjoyed the opening act. Overall the menu was incomplete, the service was inattentive, and the entertainment was lacking. None of us had the desire to stay and ring in the New Year. What a poor value... In addition, we were overcharged by$104.22(?) Would it be 22% of service charge for three persons?? Waiting for resolution.

My best dining experience in Boise.
A very friendly but professional staff. Very observant for the needs of the customer.

Two of the best meals out in USA in 2009. The wines were first class and
entertainment on Friday nights top class. Is there any comparable
venue in Boise?
