Racist décor
Unfortunately we did not notice the racist décor until after our meal. When we let the server know that the décor was offensive, she let us know that they all knew it was offensive as they have had complaints before but the owner refuses to take down their ?Mammys? because they are part of her grandfather?s ?Mammy collection? (as if this explanation makes it ok? If my grandfather was a Nazi, I wouldn?t display his regalia)? Server?s response was ?You can?t change everyone?. Nope, sure can?t but I can decide to not eat breakfast surrounded by willful ignorance. I will not be returning to The Griddle. I will be encouraging others to find other restaurant options.

Why is the "Mammy" stereotype harmful to African American women? Here are a few links:

Park Center is the Best!
We have eaten at the Griddle at Park Center in Boise many times and the food has always been amazing and the service excellent and friendly! We did eat at the Griddle in Meridian once and the food was mediocre at best. We won't eat at the Meridian Griddle again, but the Griddle at Park Center continues to be one of our faves!

smilies/angry.gif Went in with a coupon and went to pay she took my card and punched it went away and returned to say OH we cant do this It has to be for more $. I was 1.19 cents off the required 10$ no sign! she did not tell me that when she took my card and punched it? I asked to see manager and was told he/she would not be n until the next day. so I paid full price and was out my 5$ coupon. food was not remarkable and over priced will not return again and have passed this on to many friends to bad you don't work well with your customers your loss... with so many places going out of business you would think that they might try harder...

Not for Lunch!
Went to the Meridian Location with a friend. We were extremely disappointed with the service, lack of cleanliness, and food served. When we arrived shortly after 1 pm there were maybe 6 other individuals (with several at the dining counter who were employees) and 2 servers on the floor. It was seat yourself. After sitting down our waitress came over with the menus but noticed that no one had cleaned the table. (If it had been busy that would be understandable but with only approximately 1% of the restaurant filled this is unacceptable). Both of the lunch menus looked like they had previously been used to clean the tables with food stains and wet spots. My friend ordered the Golden Gate (with the tomatoes put to the side) and I ordered the half reuben sandwich and wanted to the crab & corn chowder but since they had served the last bowl settled for the roasted pepper & goat cheese soup. My friends sandwich was soggy (even though it appeared to be toasted), the reuben's corn beef was over cooked and hard and the soup (even after pouring in a lot of salt and pepper) was absolutely tasteless. If you took hot water added flour and red food coloring you would come close to how this soup tasted and its consistency.

Not so good...
With all the bragging about how good the Griddle is in Meridian, we ate there. It was decent, but expensive and crowded; not worth it IMO. Well, we live in Eagle and there isn't much for traditional breakfast here, so we tried the Eagle Griddle. YUK! It was expensive and was very institutional. I was NOT impressed. I was pissed! It's too bad the Eagle International House of Pancakes went bust (same location). It was querky, but food was pretty good.
Go to Goldy's if you want an AWESOME breakfast! It's more than worth the drive. Otherwise go to Pamela's Bakery, Rembrant's, or Perk's of life (in that order).

???Good Cookin???
I took a guest and my son to breakfast this past Saturday, it wasn't busy a lot of "help" available though.
We were greeted and served drinks promptly but after that there wasn't anything good about good cooking at The Griddle.
It took forever to get the food, the eggs were cold, the omelet was barley warm, the pancakes were tough, the hashbrown barely cooked.
For the three of us the bill was $37.11. smilies/shocked.gifsmilies/shocked.gif
when asked how things were after sending items back I commented fair, I was being fair to my company---she didn't say/ask anything.
I could understand if it was slammed but there was plenty of staff...cold food is never acceptable. For the price--the quality (lack there of) and ambiance isn't worth going. smilies/tongue.gif

Griddle Eagle , Idaho
Not good for the money spent and I was not even the one to pay the bill .
Met with family at this location in Eagle so they could park their 5th wheel which had plenty of parking .
I will only speak for what I had which was the Chicken salad sandwich on a croissant , the croissant did not taste fresh and the chicken salad was made with lots of dark dry shredded meat , even my meat lover husband sneered at it .
I had a taste of the biscuits and gravy and we expected better for almost $9 , they tasted very cheap and did not even look good .My husband was not happy and is pretty easy to please .
The restaurant itself is in a good location and it looks nice and clean and was cool inside ,and the server was nice ,but we were not impressed with the food , although they do have lots of choices , maybe we just didn't get lucky with ours . I felt compelled to write since our bill was around $50 and we were disappointed .

Good Breakfast Place
The one in Meridian has great food. Service is very hit and miss. Menu is a little on the pricy side, but there is a lot to choose from.
Have only been their once for lunch and it was delicious!

Bitterness to the pancakes?
Maybe it was an off day. My friend and I had been dying to try these well-recommended pancakes at The Griddle and were excited to see them--they looked so delicious....but after a couple of bites, we couldn't ignore the strange bitterness in them, as though the cook had dropped the can of baking powder in or something. They were bad enough that we quit eating and asked for our money back. We were informed that we weren't crazy, that there had been other complaints about it too over the last couple of weeks. Is it just this store (new one in Eagle), or has anyone else experienced it? We were kinda disappointed!smilies/cry.gif

The Griddle takes breakfast and lunch to new heights! Try the famous Golden Gate and you'll be hooked to this casual and friendly joint that offers creative twists to some breakfast and lunch classics that makes this place one of a kind. I love it.

Wow!
If you don't mind a little wait (and seriously where don't you have to wait on a Sunday morning?) this quaint and clean place has the best breakfast in town! I was lucky enough to catch the Dad's blueberry pancake special. Delicious. I'm definately going to make this place a regular weekend stop!

Good food Poor service
I really liked the food and the selection that there was to choose from but our server was not very up on his game or very informative. I don't like eating somewhere and being charged for every little side and not be told about it. I think that they are a little pricey but the food is good. So maybe if they got rid of the not so good service and the stupid sign in sheet they would have a better place. eeehhh???

Best Breakfast Around
My family and I just visited The Griddle for the first time. I had heard the wait was long, however we arrived around 12:30 on a Sunday and got right in. For breakfast out Raedean's has long been one of our favorites; along with Trolley House. This place beat both of them hands down! My only discomfort came when I witnessed a waitress (not ours, thank goodness!) empty the garbage, replace the bag, and go directly to taking an order and getting drinks, all without washing her hands....GROSS!

This places RULES! They have a new guy running the kitchen, too, so they've got some fantastic breakfast and lunch specials now, too!

And yes, the wait can be long, but if you get there before 9:30, it's not too bad - and if there's only a few of you, the counter seating is free-for-all, so keep an eye on it! smilies/smiley.gif

Can't get enough!!!
Besides the long wait line, and the sign in yourself sheet waiting list. This place is to die for. It is definately worth the wait. I tried 3 times to go there with an hour or more long wait they are only open until 2 as well and they won't seat you unless your whole party is there. The reason being they always have a wait so they are trying to get people seating as fast as they can. I usually go about 10am. THey have awesome fresh squeezed orange juice. Literally! So ask for ice with it because it isn't chilled. Anything on there menu is delicious. I keep going back and waiting in the long lines. I'm addicted to The GRIDDLE! The customer service is a little rocky but the food is well worth it!!
