worst dining experience in years
WORST DINING EXPERIENCE IN YEARS! We arrived for dinner and was seated far in the back next to the cage of birds. The prices were unreasonably high. $30 for a piece of prime rib? There was four of us. My husband ordered the lamb cooked medium. I ordered the new York steak cooked medium. Our salad was wilted with brown spots. The waitress handed me an unwrapped straw that she gripped in the hand that she had just visited the birds with. The lamb was actually raw. Not Rare...Raw. My steak was rare. I ordered a side of the "fresh green beans." I received canned great beans covered in canned italian tomatoes. they were disgusting. we decided to skip eating our dinner and ordered dessert. My husband ordered apple pie. It was black on the bottom of the crust. my cheesecake was good. however I never received the coffee that I ordered and paid for. $140 later, we were disgusted and angry. an overpriced meal that was unedible.

AWESOME FOOD!!! GREAT SERVICE!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
smilies/smiley.gif The Mill was highly recommended to us by a friend of mine and let me tell you I was not disappointed at all! What a great menu and everything was so good! Had to go back the next day so we could try the halibut which was great. Had prime rib the first night and it was perfect! A lot of good food! The waitress was great and staff very nice and friendly. A fabulous experience I give The Mill a 12 out of 10! and we look forward to going back! smilies/cheesy.gifsmilies/smiley.gif

On a recent visit to McCall we decided to eat at the Mill. When I called to make a reservation the person on the phone, rudely told me she was not taking any more reservations for the evening it was walkin only and hung up. (This should have been my first clue). We sat in the bar area for about 15 min before being seated. There were three of us, but yet we were sat at a table barely big enough for 2. When we asked to sit somewhere else, we were told "this is all there is." (When we left the people that came in right before we were seated, were sitting at a table that was empty when we walked by). The ranch dressing on the salad tasted like watered down mayonaise. Our food took a long time to arrive, and when it did it was sat in front of us and we never saw the waitress again until she brought the bill. When we mentioned the fries were burnt and not cooked, she was very rude. ( The people at the next table complained about them also) After offering "child menu fries" she then stated she would take the cost of the fries off the meal. I had gotten the halibut ($30.00) and it was like eating rubber and totally tasteless. There was a pool of grease under it. I could have gone down the street to Ridley's and bought halibut and cooked it in the microwave in the motel and it would have been better. The child's menu was very expensive. The chicken fingers consisted of three pieces of chicken the size of one of my fingers ( probably about one ounce at the most) served with a very small side for $7.95, not including the drink which was another $2.75. It cost over $80.00 for a meal for 2 adults and one child in which they food was the worst I have ever tasted. We received better service and much better food for 1/4 the cost. I usually do not write comments, but I think people need to know what they are getting. THe furnishings are another problem. The chairs we sat on were so wobblly, that we were afraid to move for fear they would break. The booth type seating on the one side was taped together with duct tape. I think it is time for them too update their website. For tlhe amount of money they charge for the food, I think they could have afforded to have more than one waitress and one busboy on duty. It was the winter carnival and you would think they would plan to be busy. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I only wish I had read the reviews before I made my choicesmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gifsmilies/angry.gif

AMAZING FOOD, GOOD EXPERIENCE.. WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND THE WAIT.
I decided to dine in at the mill with my husband while on vacation in McCall, Id. We drove up from Eagle and had heard so many wonderful comments about the resturaunt. I was very pleased, the staff was very friendly and the food was mouth- watering. The prime rib holds reputation for being the best, and I would most certainly agree. The staff was very professional and accomodating. I would go back in a heart beat and would recommend it to anyone I know. The prices are a little steep and not meant for every night dining but for a special occasion, it is well worth the price. smilies/smiley.gif

***THE WORST EXPERIENCE - Total Rip Off - Rude Staff - Horrible***
Visited McCall this past weekend and decided to have dinner at the Mill. Made reservations prior for 7:30 pm. waited at least an hour for our table and that was just the start. Ordered our meal, way over an hour later after annoyed with the terrible service and ready to just leave a different waitress finally gets our waitress's attention. She then comes over with our meals which were cold. Mine was completely wrong as was another meal that was ordered. I literally took one bite and sat while everyone ate. Once the checks came I asked to speak with the Manager and was told there was not one there that evening. All they offered to do was take 20% off the (2) bills of meals that were wrong. Mind you I didn't eat a thing besides my salad. Then they turned around and added that money taken off to another bill. One group in our party was charged twice and has yet to refund the 2nd charge. Horrible experience! Worst customer service I have ever seen, terrible waitress who was completely rude. The other wait staff was drinking on the job (ie: we watched them taking shots) honestly the worst meal I have had that was not worth the money at all. They should have at least taken the (2) wrong meals off the tickets instead of making us pay for something that was totally wrong and horrible. Very disappointed and I will tell everyone I know!smilies/angry.gif

Horrible Experience
So NOT impressed! We went here on New Years Eve, a group of 14. We had reservations at 8:00, we did not get to our table until 9:30! They seated us under an air conditioning unit that froze us out! The food was ok, but the prices were ridiculous! If I pay that much for something, it better be delicious and there better be way more than I can eat at one sitting. We will NOT be going back to The Mill!

Very disappointing. The service was terrible - very unprofessional. Very unimpressed with the management. Steaks were over cooked and completely flavorless. Even after sending the overcooked steaks back and getting new ones - they were still tasteless. After being seated, we waited 40 minutes before our order was taken! We almost left, but really wanted a steak so we stayed. At $30 a piece, you expect a steak to be delicious. These were not. We reluctantly complained - but who wants to pay that price for bad food? At any other restaraunt, the manager would have been at our table to find out what was wrong. Instead he/she left the poor, inexperienced waitress to handle it. Very unprofessional staff and service and poor food. The gentleman at the next table told us before he left that he couldn't help but overhear - he agreed - his steak was tasteless as well.

Next time? Wait until we drive back to Boise. A $12 steak at Texas Roadhouse would be much better!smilies/angry.gif
